    Fact, Moment, Light

Interesting articulation of what is probably going through every photographer's mind at the time of making a picture.

"I once was asked to describe how I think about photography. In response, I used a stick to draw a Venn diagram in the dirt. I labeled the three zones Fact, Moment, and Light."

Change that "is probably" to "should be" and we'd all have more keepers. I will definitely try to keep this in mind. I had never really tried to plan out how to make a great shot before. I just go out like a dolt and walk around looking for photos. It's a lot like how I fish to and I'm terrible at that. Just floating in a boat with a rod in the water without considering where the fish might feed, what attracts them, etc. It's a wonder I ever get good ones. I will try to be more mindful. Thanks for the good read.

I'm not so sure you're that doltish. It can be an interesting exercise to look at one of your own favourite photos and work through, in as detailed a fashion as memory permits, all the noticing, visualising and decisions you made.

I think you'll find it's rather a long list, even for what might at first appear to be just a happy-snap ...

That's why I like digital. I don't have to worry about wasting film anymore, I just keep pushing the button and sort them out later
