Not to be left out . Here's a couple of blooms from around the homestead. Shot over the last couple of days - victims of my time practising with the DP2s and the AML-1 (Sigma native close-up filter).

The colours are as I remember them....and no I haven't bumped up the saturation - that's how they came out of SPP4 and I was happy with their approximation. Weird thing with the fuchsias is, that those in the foreground appear haloed from over-sharpening. But they have not been sharpened at all. On closer inspection, it's fine hairs around the flowers that have caught the light. Oh that Foveon sensor!...going and catching detail that I just can't see.
That AML-1 has my vote!

All of these make me ache for spring and summer. But it's a good ache because we're on the brink here.
Many thanks to you all!

Inspired by some of the roses posted on this thread (Karen Cole's a recent stand-out), I made my way around the garden on this awfully dreary day. At least I didn't have to battle with any high contrast or shadows...

Just a few of the many thousands of daffodils planted by Liverpool Council with Marie Currie centre in memory of Cancer suffers past and present.

'Today' I dedicate my picture to those 'lost' in the recent disaster in Japan.
