Some beautiful storm weather to share from this week in Southern Colorado:
Mid morning storm clouds over West Spanish Peak

Vivid but fleeting double rainbow around the same peak that evening

Early evening storm clouds over the Front Range in Southern Colorado

Later that same evening with fast moving cumulus, developing into a large storm

Thanks for the comment! The sky was almost surreal that evening- not long before the last image I posted, there were amazing clusters of large round clouds about to drip from the sky. The image you see only has the remnants of that toward the mid & upper left half. Really spectacular, but a little frightening at the same time. A weather-trained friend who was with me described these as "mammatus clouds forming on the underside of a cumulonimbus anvil." A mouthful indeed...

After weeks of record-breaking heat (and some disastrous weather across the country), this morning's calm cloud cover was a short but welcomed respite (note the span of the clouds compared with the size of the plane on the lower left)
