    It certainly has that look to it. I missed out today by not making the trip up to Dartmoor, which I have been threatening to do for a few days. According to a short clip during the weather forecast on local television this evening the cloudscapes with the wintery showers were very impressive.

    Paul, the hailstones from that "shower" caused a temporary closure of part of the A38 (yesterday) and something similar happened today in Cornwall with the A30, sun heating the air mass in the eye of the low pressure that has been virtually stationary over the south west peninsula has resulted in some very unstable conditions.

    yes i saw the Exmoor hail on the local news, quite extraordinary.
    i'm in west penwith at the moment and it's been a bit variable the past few days but better than further East i think.
    Managed to see my first Purple Sandpipers the other day
