But her comments on mine were always so expertly timed. She was always reading between the lines in my shots and knew just when I was ready to quit the whole thing and gave me an extra dose of "you can do it". If it weren't for her prodding and encouragement, this book would never have gotten done.
BB's like that. I wasn't involved in this particular project but I can't tell you how many times in the past couple of years I'd be getting discouraged with my shooting for whatever reason and she'd always be there with some really encouraging words. I'm sure I'd keep shooting regardless because I'm basically doing it for myself, but knowing someone is sort of watching and paying attention is just that extra little bit of motivation. And I know she does that for EVERYONE because it seems like whenever I get a weekly update on my contact's flickr contributions, every photo I go check out, she's already commented on! I don't know how she does it and I know her big move is keeping her involvement down somewhat, but I just got a whole bunch of flickr comments from her again yesterday on some of my NYC work that she hadn't gotten through yet but still found the time to go back to! How cool is that?!
I'm sure she knows.... I HOPE she knows how much that stuff means to so many of us. I've tried to show my appreciation, but your comments just bring it home again Luke. What a great presence. I hope she'll take this in the best way its intended, not with any of the negative connotations that can sometimes be associated with this kind of comment, but she's sort of like everyone's best version of a Mom - encouraging and warm and helpful. And perhaps lleaves the really hard-ass discipline to Dad...
So THANKS BB!

I don't know Ray, sometimes even moms can't keep up. I think she might be an angel.

The $1.99 iPad version is such a good idea: a sneak preview that will inevitably - in my case - lead to purchasing the print version. Great stuff!

Indeed. In my case I wouldn't buy the printed versions of many books (I usually only buy one or two of my own) both because of the cost and because we have almost zero shelf space since we downsized. But I'm happy to pay $2 for a decent collection of photos and I find the viewing on the ipad is pretty damn good. Waaaaaay better than the free preview online, at least on my monitor. I wish more people would offer them as ebooks - I've seen a number of blurb books that I'd have bough in ebook form but that didn't offer the option.

I must say, this is well done. Thanks Luke for your time in putting this together. I thank all the photographers involved. January was an exceptionally busy month for me, and had limited time for photgraphy. I will be looking at getting a softcover for work and one for home. Thanks BB for all the support, as always.

First of all, thank you Luke, Ray, Mark and Otto and Will...and everyone who's in the book for getting it all together - I'll be heading over there shortly to place my order! Heck, maybe I'll finally get an iPad2 just for The Book!
And I do thank you guys so much for your kind and thoughtful words - they mean a great deal to me and have come at a good time. I'll take "mom" as a compliment for sure, Ray - my mother was a very good one. As for "angel"...um, Luke, I think you've been under too much stress of late with all this editorial and production work.
As for my big move...we're in a holding pattern, alas, but eventually it shall happen...could be this year, could be next but it is going to come to pass and I'll keep you posted. Heck, I'll have to change my profile location when it does.

OK, just came back from Blurb and I have to say that the book looks fantastic! Beautifully put together and I love the cover, too.
Quick question - if we would prefer to have a version with the photographer's credits under the photos, should we wait?
