Seriously, I don't see much use for this lens
it's about 2,5 times the current price of the sigma 19mm and besides being a bit smaller I don't see any advantages.

I really have no interest either in a 2.8 lens. However, it looks a good deal thinner than the Sigma. And you'll always have folks wanting the "brand" name. Let Sony have their money ;) Now if they would have made it F2....

I don't understand the NEX lens strategy. My new theory is -- this is a test lens that they were considering, but now that they are working hard on NEX full frame, they just kind of let this one escape, to feed the faithful something new. At least, that's what I'm convincing myself of (that SOMEONE is doing a full frame mirrorless). :)

It's pretty expensive and not very fast - but still, it's good to see Sony finally offering another pancake prime option. Sony should really take note of Samsung's lens lineup, which is excellent.

Yeah, the lens offering seems a bit erratic and all over the place, with no consideration for users' real needs and demands. Samsung line-up looks so good I was actually looking into that no later than yesterday... Then the bodies don't make me salivate that much.

I agree, and again they'll bring a 18-200 lens...

but why no 17mm 1.8, or 85mm 1.8 or a 17-55 (or 16-50) 2.8
I don't understand their lens line up either

Fuji at least brings fast, great primes (35mm,14mm, upcoming 56mm and 23mm) and a great kit lens (18-55)

What an odd focal length ... 30mm EFL? And f2.8 is ... yawn. I guess Sony didn't want to make anything that would compete with the Zeiss 24/1.8.

they should come with a good kit lens ...

That power zoom with the NEX6 was a "no no"?
