What's a "fill light" on GorillaPod?

The photo looks silky smooth, especially for ISO1250. Two years ago, anything past ISO400 on my E410 was pushing it!

The attached photo show what it looks like. I have a couple of Rosco warming filters in front of the dimmable LED now because I can't dim it down enough. I think I'll add an ND filter.
