    X100 with stacked ND Filters

Middle of the day, glaring sunshine, temp around 35, got it into my head to see how the X100 would go with the filters (NDx8 and ND400) I had purchased ages ago for my K-5 lenses. Pretty happy with it. Wish I had a remote shutter release though, holding the release down manually for 10+ seconds is a bit fraught. This shot was a 28 second shot. ISO 640 simply because I forgot to change it from the last use of the camera. The shot needed to be longer... I'll try it again when I get a remote thingy to screw into the shutter release. Used to have one (for the old Minolta).. lost now, dammit.

The two shots are from the same base file, I just felt compelled to process in a couple of different ways. Comments welcome as always.

Thanks, Kerri. Yes, seems like I am going to be grounded again, except for short trips. My car has a mysterious illness which I believe is going to cost ~$500+ to fix. This means Tom doesn't get his jab this month, and I am going to be putting more things up for sale.

I prefer the first one, the deep blue but this might just be because we've been starved of blue for such a long time here in the UK :) Really sorry to hear about the car and Tom's jab.......

That's a really nice photo, if I didn't know you used ND filters I would've asked how you got certain points of the photo in focus while others weren't.

I like the first; to an extent it gives the impression of having used a mild "bleach bypass" style filter

I prefer the first. Intrigued as I am about to embark on my first adventure with filters in digital.

Crikey I'm a twit. Longer (or different) shutter speeds to whats on the dial is available by turning the controller wheel on the back of the camera. LOL.

Going to try it again (but not before my crank angle sensor is fixed)

I had trouble with understanding why you had to hold down the shutter button for the duration of exposure. Now it all makes sense.

I propose at some stage, when the notion of flowing water makes seasonal sense, to get a 9 stop ND. In the interim, I am hoping to get some Lee ND grads and a Sigma circular polariser. Toys, fun & games!
