Do I really need a Merrill or is it more want?
Are the DP2 originals that much less capable?

    The next shower approaches

A whole week after taking delivery of a secondhand DP1 the weather relented long enough to go out and take my first shots. As you can see showers were still much in evidence.

    DP1 The next shower approaches

A similar delay before being able to use my DP2M

DP2M Gentle seas breaking thanks to an offshore wind

DP2M The weather is still unsettled

some fantastic colours and textures you got there! It's pretty rare for me to get excited about a flower shot, but I
particularly like the last 2, because the texture is so well rendered it looks like I could reach out and touch the flowers...

On that evidence there's a lot of life in your original DP2 yet.

Hehe, most cameras these days are more "want" I think ;) I decided not to upgrade my old DPs to the Merrills as of yet.
Other than the higher resolution (which I personally don't absolutely need) they wouldn't allow me to take photographs in any different way than before.
So I went for an OM-D EM5 (to replace my Nikon gear) and love it.
Not going to sell my DP's though. Never. They're special. :)

    Understood.
I think a lot of us original "DP" owners were hoping for a faster lens along with the Merrill new sensor but this unfortunately did not happen.. So for me, upgrading to the Merill would only be the sensor - when I'd rather have a sensor & glass upgrade. Hence, I'm in no rush to get a Merrill.
