A new year, a new camera DP2M
These down sized images don't do justice to the originals, which I have printed. Detail has been lost for whatever reason. The down sized size is around 200kb, maybe a larger size would be better.
There seems to be a lack of clarity in the small branches (a sort of confusion). On the print they are tack sharp and well differentiated. I've taken this shot several times recently (only able to get to the site because the field is still in stubble) with a variety of lenses on m4/3. The DP2M has done the best job by far of rendering fine detail in the foliage right to the edge of the frame and in the fine tree branches.
Here the image has been cropped considerably (50% in area), in the print the foreground and emerging crop has very fine detail in it which shows more smeared on this down sized image. The more distant furrows are again sharply delineated in the print.
Again the rendering of detail along the skyline is exemplary in the print.
I can see this serious compact getting a lot of use in 2013 and hopefully beyond.

Thanks. It was one of those situations where I wanted to get closer, but faced with a cultivated field I obviously couldn't. It's good to know that the original image is able to take a fair bit of cropping and still produce a good print, at least as an A4. I think it probably would hold detail up to an A3, implying that an uncropped original might stretch to an A2 print.
