    Dust !

    While i am not at all happy my GRD4 has Dust (big lump too).
    I am happy that Ricoh/Pentax ? is on the ball with their replies to my mail.
    So My camera is away and i am praying for a speedy return.

    maybe that's the grainy look the GRDs are famous for

    I have no idea. One minute its clean. next minute not clean. only noticed in sky shot at f9. not sure how long it was there before
    i noticed it. faint large stain at large apertures.

    Ooh, that looks nasty. I didn't realise you could get dust on the sensor of non-ILC cameras.

    SOmetimes zoom mechanisms work kinda like bellows taking in air or pushing it out. It wouldn't really work if it were a complete vacuum.

    That phenomenon plagued some models of the Canon G line. Cleanings are not cheap....
