Sorry -- I should clarify. I meant to say the lens stuck error was prone to appear in all models, not all cameras. That is, it wasn't just the SD 700 or the a620 or something. The E18 error could appear in any Powershot across the line, but it was still overall a rare event.
I only had a lens stuck on an SX200. I had owned SD300, 800, 950, G9, and a 710, 720 and 650 and the SX200. Only one had the lens stuck, but I read about other folks who had others stick.

+1 to basically all of that. Had G7, G9, G10 - no probs at all. Then Micro 4/3 came, and that was that.

We have a power shot a570 that just a few months ago, gave up the ghost. I suppose the lens motor can eventually go bad.
