The weather is not cooperating (aided by short days and long hours at work). However, there is always something to shoot...even if just in desperation. I am finding that I very much like having a point and shoot that has copious manual controls, good to excellent image quality and a nice fast lens. That is just a superb combination and I am finding that is useable in so many different kinds of situations. The image stabilization is good enough to allow for the odd hand held image at low shutter speeds, the zoom and macro ability give you creative options and even the rather spartan OVF is useful at times.

It's nice to see more companies recognizing the value of cameras like this with models like the RX100, X20, XZ-2 and such on the horizon. I expect the newly announced Ricoh with the APS-C sensor will be a lot of fun as well.

I just ended my listing to sell the X10. I just couldn't do it, finances be damned. I'll be eating a lot of rice and beans for a couple of weeks, but I make a mean red chile sauce that will liven it all up a bit. Here's my last picture with the X10, which almost really was my last picture.

I have had to sell gear a few times for financial reasons and if I had to do it now I'd part with my G2 and Sigma 30 first. If it were between my X10 and NEX I'd probably sell the X10 but it would not be an easy decision. I might go on a vegetable soup diet for a while in order to keep the X10.

I remember having to sell my D700 to buy the horse I'd been dreaming of forever. Sometimes I've had to just sell cameras to pay bills. Life has ups and downs. Bravo for the pic and the decision to stick with chili beans and the X10 for a while ;)

When you wrote, "..a horse I'd been dreaming of forever", an image of Lisa Simpson flashed through my mind.

And I still contend that the Simpsons are the smartest thing on television.
