Hi all, how good is the EVF on the v1? There are no camera retailers nearby where I can have a look for myself... as a guide how does it compare to the Panasonic G3 (which I have seen a few times)?

I only had the V1 for three or so weeks, but I recall the EVF being pretty good. I didn't like the fact that the V1 forced the user to review the photo every time though. Because of that, it made the EVF experience a little weird for me. Not sure if Nikon has released any firmware upgrades to make that optional for the user.

I also had the G3 for a few weeks. In terms of pure clarity, brightness and contrast, if I recall correctly, I like the V1's EVF more than the G3.

I've not had my V1 for long but the EVF is pretty impressive. Biggest negative for me is it is a bit slow switching from screen to EVF. This is annoying in that you have a camera that can lock onto the subject in an instant but the delay in the evf turning on negates that advantage if you see what I mean. Mind you I've not read the manual properly yet so perhaps you can select evf only so evf does not switch off?

Easy enough, with a little gaffer tape over the sensor.
    Thanked by Armanius.
