    Of all the trees on this patch of forest, this is my favourite. At some point in its long life it was cleaved by lightning & only part remains alive. Its base is in the three parts shown here. The part of its base which now sustains the tree has bark and is on the upper left; the other two are nominally dead, stripped of bark, but live in art.
