Plum tree leaves
Our autumn colors are mostly muted in the high desert. Yellow aspens leaves against dark green conifers will jump out at you, but the palette us usually more subtle. This plum tree had some nice orange and red along with the yellow. Mostly a test of the XZ-1 close focus, but I liked the results.

Larry, such gorgeous hues in your closeup! G.Don - lovely softness in your image...and I spotted another photo over on your Flickr stream that I just love...from Halloween.
Michael - that is a fantastic photograph of that "angry" egret! Wow!! Very impressive. I don't know if you're a birder or not but I know a bunch of people that would be in heaven if they saw that - let alone got a such a great photo! Have you posted on the Birds thread?
And nothernsouluk - were you in Scotland when you were walking on this beach and took this picture? Such austere beauty. I feel my family tree's roots stirring just looking at this place.
