Be careful, you might just get hooked; and then what will you do? SPP takes a little taming, like a new puppy, but it doesn't take too long as long as you tell it what to do. Thus far, I have been using it hand held which isn't ideal. Just waiting to get my RRS clamp & L plate and then I really will be set.

A certain piece of plastic in my wallet is trying to hide away, I might just have to go hunting for it A Merrill would take me back to my photographic roots, a 6 x 9 Voigtlander roll film camera with a 105mm, f/4.5 lens (equivalent to a 45mm lens in 35mm terms) used for mainly black and white landscapes, each shot was thought about and setup, sometimes I'd wait up to 3 hours for the right lighting conditions. I've been doing a lot of printing to compare the X3F files I've downloaded with some of my better m4/3 stuff, the Merrills certainly are very impressive.

Yes, the Merrill reminds me of the quantum leap in quality when I went from Leica & Nikon F, to a Hasselblad 500C with its 80mm Zeiss lens. And this Shiguma lens appears to be nothing less than that Ziess. And of course you are right, about slowing everything down, I want the tripod not just for long exposures but also to be forced to think about each shot and its setup.

I intended to go to Hacklebarney State Park today, there's a little waterfall and plenty of rocks and trees and swoops and hills and all to hike thru and photograph, a good time even in these barren-foliage days.... today a good day for that, 'twas raining lightly and that nicely saturates what color is available.
However, to my dismay, as I approach the entrance to Hacklebarney, there's a long barrier and a nasty sign, telling me that the park is closed until further notice due to Hurricane Sandy. Let me tell you, I was royal pi$$ed as I left.... but.... drove around a bit and walked around a bit and took some pics.
