Testing out Ilford Delta 400 rated at ISO 500 and processed in Ilfotec DD-X 1:4. All I can say is ... GRAIN!!! All on the Leica M6TTL and 18mm 4.0 ZM Zeiss Distagon:

hmm that's a bit surprising to me.
They look a bit "flat" as well which is odd.
No changes to your scanning regime were there?
Be interesting to see what they looked like if you were able to wet-print them; I've noticed recently that scanning does have a tendency to pull out grain that isn't "really" there.

Beautiful tonally, grain or not grain.
And I never thought of grain as necessarily evil, just one more variable.

My rule is one has to increase the visual impact of the image to overcome the distraction of grain. The more grain, the greater impact the image must have to be successful.
