I think that it is a Lesser Black backed Gull ........ Barrie will have to confirm as I still get confused between the Lessor and the Greater ....... the smallest Greater is bigger than the biggest Lessor ....... it was a big gull but not as big as some that I have seen .......I think that slate grey back indicates Lessor ... but I always thought pinkish feet were Greater .... but Gulls change throughout the year for the first four years ish ........ Lessor I reckon because of the size...... 3rd year moving into winter plumage
Wow. The seagulls down on the Florida coast aren't real bothered, but I know I've never been able to get that close without them wanting to fly away.

This was taken a couple of years ago by the River Thames in SW London, they weren't too bothered by people. Casio Exilim P&S.

Redtail
On my walk yesterday, I came across this Redtail Hawk lifting off with his catch. Wasn't carrying any of the cams, so here is a heavily cropped IPhone shot.

Oh, Malcolm...your strolling has brought forth great things! Of course, I am in love with your "stand and wait".
