Focal reducer adapter...????.. FF coverage to Aps-c

Came across this article on fujirumors not sure what to make of it because it came out of the blue, maybe there's something to it.

Basically it's an adapter that will increase the light gathering abilities of the lens and restore the equivalent focal length when mounting a FF lens to Aps-C sensor.
A nikon 50mm f1.8 on a fuji x mount with the adapter results in a 35mm f1.2, giving you the same angle of view and Dof as on FF but more Light!!???

Can this be true, how have they kept this a secret, anyone else heard of it/ believe it.

An adaptor which claims to make your lens, faster, wider and better!! This is NOT an April Fool’s! | Philip Bloom

I saw that and it looks cool, but I'm not smart enough to know if it really works like that. There are plenty of smart folks here. And a few who aren't, but still pontificate.

Basically, it simply shortens focal length using positive elements--a teleconverter increases focal length using negative elements. Because you shorten the focal length but don't change the physical aperture diameter, you are changing the f-number of the lens--just like a teleconverter changes the f-number of a lens. This is nothing new, focal reducers have been used for a long time, mostly with telescopes. This just becomes easier with mirroless cameras because of the short flange distance.
