Since the sensor and lens (that I have) are nothing new, I guess my image post aren't' anything groundbreaking. If you have any questions about the camera body let me know, I would be happy to answer them. I can't speak for the new zoom though, it is not on the streets here yet that I know of. I got the body with the XF35mm.

V. Nice! I like the idea of this camera with the new zoom lens on it, although the existing primes are obviously great lenses too. How did you find the operation of the camera? Fast and fluid? Slow and steady? Neither of the above?

On a side note, how refreshing is it that the Lightrom support actually beat the camera to market.

Camera operation: I didn't read the instructions at all. Every physical control aspect of the camera is in the right spots, s/w configurations are easy to figure out. From turned off to on the camera is ready when you are - meaning I can hit the power switch as I'm bringing up the camera to my eye and by the time I am ready to compose the camera is ready too. I've made a few custom configs with various jpg and film settings but I've only shot RAW so far.

I've read focus is slow. I've read the EVF fps is slow. I didn't notice either, in fact while shooting I didn't notice the camera...which is kind of the point isn't it? Oh and the camera is very light. Today's shots were auto everything (ISO auto and capped at 6400), the only changes I made were +/- EV now and then when I felt the meter wasn't giving me what I wanted.

Oh, in silent mode the beeping stops, the AF assist light stops and the flash will not fire. Easy to toggle by holding down the DISP BACK button for a second.

LR 4.2 will ingest X-E1 RAW files. Camera RAW 7.2 (for PS CS6) will as well, also you can D/L DNG Converter 7.2 (free) from Adobe if you need to work outside those two versions of Adobe's software. Fuji's included software is non intuitive and clunky (to me).

OMG!! They are SO good!!! Right...Sod the D600, I'm getting a X-E1!!!!!!

You know I lugged my D700 out to the lake today. When I got home I needed probably an hour of time in front of the computer to make them look like/almost as good Fuji files. I've used a number of APSC cameras (various Nikons and Pentaxes) over the last few years. To me the Fuji has the best IQ in this sensor size and to me actually is better than the D700. It's probably not going to be as good as the D600 but it's going to be very close.

Oh be sure and get the 35mm. It's worth it. It's probably the best lens I own and it cost a lot less than some of the more expensive ones that are supposed to be better.

Wow - the DR and colours in these samples is getting me excited !

I have X-E1 and 18-55mm on pre-order. The waiting is killing me

Cheers Stanley, that Eric Bouvet set from the Burning Man festival is excellent....camera performance stuff aside, I like his style.
