41mm is like... hmmm... a very odd focal length
That's what I thought too. I have the Voigtlander 40mm for my D700 and love it.

One of the reason I'm looking forward to a fuji is their lens lineup.

Voigtlander has a 40,28,20mm pancake lenses for Nikon and by next year Fuji will have similar lenses available.

The 40mm f2.8 pancake can sit on as a default compact lens while out and about and in a jacketpocket. The f2-28mm will be faster and wider for indoors.

Then I will probably look at getting the 21mm from fuji or even Samyang14mm2.8(21EQ) or their fisheye-$300 vs $800
and for portraits one can easily get a cheap manual 50mm1.4 or 85mm1.4

The 27 mm pancake and the size of the X-E1 is what makes me think we are already looking at the successor to the X100.

Without an OVF and at f2.8, it's not a successor to the X100. Whether there IS a successor is another question, but this isn't it. And this combination would be more expensive anyway, unless the lens is $200...
