I skipped several generations of camera equipment from the 1970s and mid-1980s to present - I don't own a DSLR. My first digital camera is a Casio QV3000EX that I bought in 2001 and since then I've accumulated several compact cameras including a Ricoh GX8, Fujifilm E900, F30, and F200EXR. My latest camera is a Canon S90. I miss cameras with optical viewfinders, and based on a previous romance with a Hexar AF I think my next camera will be a Fujifilm X100.
We live in an age where smartphones and tablets are designed to preoccupy us and become passive content consumers. A camera is a great tool for using our minds and being producers rather than consumers.
