Nikon Showcase Nikon 1 Samples

I don't think they're racing... they're muzzled canines who attack anyone that looks like a photographer taking their picture.

Sometimes their muzzles come off.

I know Sue. Every time I try to quit there is a crisis at work or at home, I get stressed out, and the devil pulls me back in.

They say it takes four times before anyone manages to do it. I stopped on my fifth, its been 6 years now, but it was too late for me. I still occasionally want to have a cig, but every time I think that, I take a deep breath, and the pain in my lungs reminds me that its not a path I need to take anymore. Good luck with yours. Don't leave it as long as I did, you're still a young man and your lungs will recover.

I even tried making the transition easier with an eCig, but it only made me even more nervous and eager to lite a real cig. I don't think there is a "magic pill", only strong will can lead to success.

200mm Micro + FT1 Adapter + J1

I just received the FT1 adapter and tried it with my Nikon 200mm Micro AF-D. No autofocus with the FT1 and that lens, obviously.

This one is straight out of the camera and sharpened. It is a Marigold about the size of a $.50 piece. ISO 1600, f/13, 1/125 on monopod.

This one is a crop. For reference sake, this brown anole has a head about the circumference of a #2 pencil. ISO 800, f/4.5, 1/320 on monopod.

FT1 Adapter with 70-200mm f/2.8 AFS

I got the FT1 adapter yesterday and tried it out with my 70-200mm f/2.8. Like most things in photography, there were tradeoffs. At almost 8:00 pm, I had to go to ISO 3200 and 1/125 on a monopod, even at f/2.8. That would have been okay with my D7000, but with the J1, it is too noisy/grainy for my taste. The tradeoff is that my 200mm is the equivalent of 510mm vs. an equivalent of 300mm on my D7000. I was also finding that the J1's ability to handle highlights isn't as good as the D7000, at least with the Ft1 and that lens at f/2.8. Finally, the lens was hunting for focus at times, which I have never seen with the lens on the D700, D300s, or D7000. I plan to do the firmware upgrade and see if it makes a difference.

Here is the best photo I took with some contrast adjustment in Photoshop.
