Photo of a photographer taking a photo

curiously, Barrie, the photographer in my image was trying (but unable) to reproduce a photograph which we think must have been originally taken (over 50 years ago) using a method similar to that employed in your latter photo

It's often a challenge to find the original viewpoint for an old image, mostly these days either because the vegetation has grown up or some "idiot" has built something in the way, perhaps the reverse with your photographer, something has been cut down or demolished, or the original photographer had a large step ladder with him :)

My man had a full frame DSLR with a fisheye or very wide angle lens and a wireless release, very 21st century technology to photograph a 20th century steam engine.

My son wanted to go to a videogame tournament

A photographer was covering it for a website.

The wide shot shows the venue at one end of the huge conference room.

Then I caught the photographer in action from a few rows back in the audience.
