Sony "Best IR Performance"

Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase either the original RX100 or the Mk II.
Primarily as a good walkabout camera, doing recees (the RB67 is generally known for it's similar weight and ergonomics to a breeze block).

I've seen a few examples of IR on the RX100, but I wonder if the backlit sensor on the MkII will improve matters (given that without modification the ISO generally rests above 400).
Can anyone help me out here?

Another thought was how easy is it to remove the hot mirror in the RX100 II? I found it fairly simple to perform surgery on a very basic Samsung PL-50 which produces very hit and miss images (i.e no manual controls over aperture or shutterspeed), and it does not offer any Raw images.
