Just bought this at costco. How is it possible this camera has this little noise? What sort of sorcery is this? :happy-084: is there a bunch of in camera noise reduction or something? Haven't had time yet to play around with the raws yet. But this camera is making me want to ditch my Panasonic gx1 and its 20mm 1.8 prime. @ iso 6400 on the gx1, there would be so much noise

Welcome to Serious Compacts - that's quite a wealth of info in that shot of yours. ;) Not having any experience with this camera, I'll leave it to other members to respond to your "sorcery" question, but wanted to say hello since I just spotted your post.

I'm sure there's a significant amount of noise reduction in the RX100 Mark 2. After all, NR is a Sony hallmark. But there's no getting around the fact that the RX100s are really good and Sony says the sensor in the Mark 2 has 40 percent less noise than the already-excellent original.
