Hi everyone! Got invited by BBW to join Serious Compacts, so finally decided to join! Used to frequent MU-43.com as well, but not as much lately, because I haven't been using my m4/3 stuff as of lately.

I got into photography around 12/2008 and it has been quite a fun experience. I was just looking for a hobby and now I have a passion. Before then, I'd owned one fixed focus film camera from Walgreens, one Canon Elph with APS film, and one of the first digital Canon Elph (2 megapixel camera). Photography has also given me a chance to bond w/ my father and my sister, who are both avid photographers.

One of the biggest negatives about photography for me is that I am a gear-head, gadget-freak, and/or just a plain tech-junkie. So I keep buying more stuff. Probably have more than stuff than I'll ever need. Maybe they'll find a cure for gear-lust one day. Let's hope so before I go bankrupt!

Hey, Armanius, glad to see you here! My you do have quite a list going there of current cameras.;) Next stop here for you is to post some photos with each!:D

How do you like that little Leica VLux-20, by the way?

Thanks for the warm welcome!

VLux? Eh .... Highly ... Not recommended. There's nothing on it that the ZS7 does not have, other than the red dot and Photoshop Elements.

Hi mate, and welcome

There is a Leica image thread on here - I'm a Leica fan, (M8, M6 and M4), - post some with your M9 to keep us all "arguing" - seriously I mean some of us (the more enlightened), won't - I love my, (bought used a few months ago), M8, (now needs a sensor clean) - but the IQ on the M9 is just something else - amazing I mean

Post some of yours - I would really like to see them and then we can start to compete with GetDPI

:thiagree: Please do post some Armanius!

Hello and welcome Armanius - that's a serious collection you have there.

Thanks Bill! Yes, it's quite the collection. Makes the girlfriend cringe everytime I get something new! I need to sell some of my stuff off for sure. To fund more stuff that is! How is Perth at this time of the year? I'd love to visit Australia sometime in the near future. Alas, I'm still stuck in Houston.

Thanks for the welcome Bill. I remember your avatar from the Mu-43 site. Is that a photo of Michael Caine? The M9 is indeed pretty amazing. Spent entirely too much for it when I was infatuated with Leica. I'm actually pondering whether or not to sell it, so that I can fund more gear of other sorts. I had a M8 for a few days, and thought that the photos from it were a bit sharper than the M9. Maybe the whole IR-filterless thing. I like the M8's 1/8000 max shutter speed too. Kinda silly that the M9 tops out at 1/4000. Makes shooting wide open during daylight difficult.

Yes....I too remember you Armanius though you may not remember me from MU43, I was just plain Pete over their. Funny how we have trickled over to this great little site.
Cheers,
Pete

Thank you Pete! BBW recruited me to come over. Great site. Everyone is so friendly. Big change from DPreview! Love your bio. Congrats on 37 years!! :) And I love those plate lunches too! Only been to Hawaii once. But got to experience about half a dozen plate lunches. Sure beat eating at the fancy restaurants. My biggest unexpected yummy experience was eating spam and Portuguese sausage with rice at McDonald's.
