It's real hard to find anyone with this lens. Anyone got one and if so it is any good. The few snippets I have seen on the net suggest that it's pretty good. I don't have time at the moment to test the one at work (

Any input would be good.

I was interested in it as well, but you're right there are hardly any user reviews out there. Then the recent sale on the Oly 40-150 came along and I stopped waiting. Is it being sold as a 2-lens kit at all?

No it's not. I think I'll just have to buy one and let you guy's know what it's like. :D

Alright... here's a killer for you: I got the Panny 45-150 for Christmas after giving my 45-200 to my niece. And then I couldn't resist picking up the Oly 40-150 for only $99 earlier this month. Hey, sometimes Panny lenses work better on Panny bodies and Oly lenses better on Oly bodies. So I have both. But I have had exactly zero time since Christmas to go out and test either. Ain't that a kick in the head? I can tell you build quality is fine on both. The IS switch is no longer on the outside of the Panny 45-150, the way it is on the 45-200. It's activated via the menu only. Zooming/focusing is also quieter than with the 45-200. The Oly lens is lighter, since there's no IS. I'm kind of frustrated that I can't tell you more. But, frankly, I don't think I'd sweat it if I were you. If I had only a Panny body, I'd get the Lumix version. If I had only an Oly body, I'd get the Zuiko.

I can only comment that I had a rather underwhelming copy of the 45-200, returned it. Then bought a used Oly 40-150 (1st gen) and it was just way better than it had any right too, in every way. Loved this lens !!

45-150mm at 45mm, f/4.0, 1/60th, ISO 1600, no flash under tungsten with a G5. JPEG OOC, no noise reduction applied, minor sharpening for print. Been busy, so this is all I've got. Gotta say that I did not work for this at all... draw your own conclusions. Works for me.

Thanks Woof!! Good to see a real example. Looks pretty good to me but I'll probably go with the 45-175 as the examples from that lens are pretty stunning and it's is a little longer in focal length plus just a little more money.

Thanks anyway (y)

Agreed. I really have this because it came as a part of a G5 kit for an additional $69.00.

I figure I did OK. I'm interested in the 45-175mm for the power zoom - specifically for video use.

Compare 45-175mm: Panasonic Lumix G Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 M43 Lens Review

Very similar in terms of performance though the 45-175mm seems sharper in the long end and is longer overall.

woof!

Just came across this post, and it may be too late to offer my view. Nevertheless, I opted for the Panasonic 45-150mm last week to go with my Olympus E-Pl3, the reason being that it was a somewhat shorter than the Olympus 40-150 and looked to be a better finish in black. I didn't think there would be a lot between these two regarding image quality and therefore based my choice on the points mentioned previously. I haven't reached the stage of uploading any photos as yet here, but those that appear on my Flickr photostream seem detailed and sharp.

All in all I think I'm happy with my choice.
