Yes, the 70-300 4/3 is soft on the long end and seems a bit "flarey". Many of my aviation shots look like that unless aircraft is in direct sun while in flight. I will probably sell it soon ans find an MF 300mm.

Not sure where this arrived from, there were a couple of airshows on that day, but the nearest one was at least 150 miles north, and it zoomed in, circled over the local airfield and then zoomed off back in the direction from which it came.

50mm was the longest lens I had with me ...

WWII I think. Tail wrong for a Hurricane or Spitfire, isn't it? Might have been an American. Had a bit of a Merlin roar though. Although I think Merlin were retro-fitted to some US 'planes?
Where Duane when we need him?

Had a small warbird fly-in today at the Smyrna (Tennessee) Airport, just outside Nashville, with a few planes from the Commemorative Air Force (formerly the Confederate Air Force in less politically-correct days), including the rare B-29 'FiFi'. Solid rain for the last few days and the next few days, and I was running to nab these ahead of a squll line that was inbound: They pulled both Stearmans into a hangar while I was shooting. I know color can work well on cloudy days, but not my favorite lighting; but who knows when I might see these ever again, so there I went. All X10, fill-flash to try and even the shadows, and these are mostly crops to desktop framing (16:9, I don't know why I just don't go ahead and shoot that aspect ratio all the time as I edit so many of them to that result. . . . )
