This thread did not start out to be a contest/challenge, but there are some really nice entries. So I have decided to let this thread run until Friday, June 7 (Eastern USA), and pick my favorite, to be announced Sat 8th. And also invite you all, to make a short post, naming yours. No scoring votes. Just the fun of it.

Post your mishaps, that actually were better ( to your eye) than the intended might have been.

Example is this one, taken with a not so good long lens with a +1 close-up filter. At first look, it's terrible exposure etc. But after a second look, trying to figure what I messed up, I like it. Here it is OOC except re-sized for posting.

Your thoughts?

I like it too actually! I think I have some like that, I'll look tonight. Great topic.

But, another mishap: you spelled "photography" wrong in your title, lol.

When I was first learning how to correct perspective distortion, I thought I just needed to make all the verticals straight up and down. Of course, if you're just way too close to your subject, you really can't do that. I've made the far building about twice as wide as it's supposed to be, but I kinda like it anyways.

This one was a totally accidental exposure while fumbling the camera.

On this next one, I didn't know I'd dripped sweat on the filter on the lens... took another one after cleaning and liked this one better.

A couple of accidental double exposure on a 1950's medium format camera where the shutter cocking and winding were separate operations because the linkage was broken. Again, I did get non-double exposed of the scenes... but they were boring.

This one was from the Letchworth Village Institute for the Feeble Minded and Epileptic in New York. This one as where the tripod wasn't set up right and it slipped. I got some where it didn't and they were boring by comparison. This felt like psychosis to me, and the other was just a picture.

So, I'm not such a creative photographer, lol -- I wasn't TRYING to do these but liked them after they happened. However, I don't try to make photos like this even though I liked them. Go figure.

Hands up

Just as I took this photo at the Sigur Rós concert (great show) the person in front lifts hands! Actually sort of like the way it came out, but maybe would have been better without the hands.

Every time I hear their music, I love it. I can just never sit through an entire album> I'll have to give it another go. This shot is very cool. Do you know the name of some soundtrack that one of the members did around 8 years ago...maybe it was the whole band. I remember likiing that one.

The photo is pretty cool.....hands or no.

They have been featured in several soundtracks. I first heard them when I bought the soundtrack to Vanilla Sky.
Their lead singer, Jonsi, did the soundtrack for We Bought a Zoo last year. That's not the greatest movie, but the soundtrack helps a lot.

This past New Year's Eve I took the X100 thinking I could get some good low light shots, but found out that it was a bit challenging for indoor shots with moving subjects. In the past I haven't been very successful with motion shots, but on hindsight, I felt this shot captured the mood of the night better than it would have been without the motion blur.
