Nikon Nikon V1 with Tamron 18-270

All-Pro
Adapted to the V1, the Tamron 18-270mm has an equivalent field of view to a full-frame 49-729mm zoom.

The optical image stabilization definitely helps at the long end. I can't get every shot blur free at slower shutters, but I can most.

The setup is light and very compact for the reach that it is capable of:

I find the auto focus not too bad. A darned nice pair, I think. This and a wide angle setup for a second camera gives plenty of options while shooting.

Autofocus isn't bad at all. Single point at center through the FT-1 adapter. That works great for long telephoto.

I'll recommend it. Not super sharp at the long end, but not bad either.

Thanks carlb, that is pretty cool. I keep thinking about picking up the V1. You are adding a bit of fuel to that fire.

Are the shots you posted at 700mm+? I wonder how your set up compares to a good superzoom?

Yes, the top and bottom are at 729mm.

They are a great pair together, great size, image quality and long zoom. The image stabilization really helps at the long end.

I've tried the Fuji X-S1. This pair is definitely more usable in low light, and the ois with the Tamron is more useful at the long zooms.
