Cafe Racer

the bike is gorgeous, the processing spot on and I'll bet that racer would love a print of that last one. If I weren't so valuable to my wife alive, I'd have a machine like that. I have a friend who is an avid motorcycle rider and he says "there's two kinds of riders......those who have laid their bike down, and those who will lay it down". Most will say the reward is worth the risk. I'm no longer one of them.

I saw this bike in Venice,CA. the other day.

CAFE RACER by spinyman, on Flickr

Nice nice nice! That looks like a 70s era inline 4 from a Japanese bike. They've done a great job evoking the cafe racer aesthetic, although labeling it "Cafe Racer" is a bit like putting a sticker on an OM-D that says, "Film Camera" lol!

Motorcycling has changed my life. It's that powerful. I wish that more could see and experience the world as I have, on two wheels and with a big grin.

Thanks guys.I don't know anything about bikes but the café racer "style" really appeals to me.This bike seemed so over the top in that regard though, even the gauges are labeled café racer,as if it was a brand.I saw no other labeling on the bike except for the exhaust.Celebrity toy?

Luke, the same is said about cyclists,me being one of the ones who laid theirs down, resulting in a multiple spiral fractured femur and broken hip.Nothing a years worth of rehab and two permanent rods couldn't fix.Needless to say, I don't ride anymore. But I share the feeling of the open road and wind in your hair.It changed my life too. After I took these pics, I crossed the road and walked a bit when I heard him fire it up.I spun around just in time to get the one frame as he went by.I didn't know he flashed the peace sign til post.

That's why I quit riding. Everyone around me was in a sling with a broken collar bone. Nope! Done! Spending my motorcycle money on photography instead. Lol.

Oh but have you ever tried it Luke? Agreed you are too valuable intact to your wife, but not if you are a shattered and longing man inside ;) I miss my bike but so much dirt discounts many rides....and I didn't much like the feel of a hybrid.

Looks like there's some provenance for this bike only some small details have changed.

Judging by this thread, it won't be convertibles that our members will buy come that mid-blush of life.
Shiny half helmet and legs akimbo...Vrrmm, vrrmmm! :clap2:

Oh but have you ever tried it Luke?

I had a wee Honda C70 for a summer and thought I was a Mod on my faux scooter. I wore a little shorty helmet. One night I was heading home after work and some guy pulled out right in front of me. I locked the brakes and laid it down. Next think I knew there was a beautiful EMT standing over me asking me if I knew what day it was. I was more or less fine. The helmet wasn't, and the strap cut through my ear like a knife through butter. I had a limp for a week and some cool road rash on my face. But at that moment I realized that there are way more bad drivers on the road than good ones. As fun as it was zipping around town on that thing, I prefer to be wrapped in steel when I'm in traffic.....too many fools, drunks, and text messagers.

And my accident was minor. I've seen a couple really grisly ones. I wish I could eradicate the vision of one of them where there was a helmeted head lying 25 feet away from it's body. Even the safest riders are a roll of the dice away from being a statistic. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. Enjoy the wind in your hair. No one lives forever, life the live you love. But for me the choice is simple enough.

Wow thanks Luke, you've delayed my mid-life crisis by a week or so.

I was obsessed by motorbikes when I was a teen so was delighted when my brother who was a year older got a 50cc moped. I had a go and it put me off for life!!! Way too scary!! My Mum nearly dies on a bike when she was younger and my Dad used to race them in the 50's so you would think I would be up for riding motorbikes especially after cycling for many years. Weird eh! I still love how bikes look though.

That's interesting, because I feel way more vulnerable on a pedal/push bike than I do on a motorcycle. On the motorcycle, I've got a full face helmet, impact and abrasion resistant gear, and the ability to keep pace with traffic and accelerate out of potential danger. On a push bike, I've got whisper thin Lycra and a bit of styrofoam on my noggin while traveling much slower than prevailing traffic.

Love them both though. Two wheels good!
