A couple of new blog posts: Labor Unrest and Madness

Always fun to look through your images.

I have said before, a good caption makes images so much more interesting.

Thanks, Dave!

That's a hotly debated subject among "purists"! Personally, I like to write a bit also and my "art" usually involves something with words as well as the image. I am not, obviously, a purist who DEMANDS that an image stand alone without words, lol. If that's what one likes to do, cool.

But I do it differently although I like to think some of my images can stand alone -- sometimes stories or captions make things more "immersive" as-it-were. My 0.02 anyway.

I understand the train of thought that the image should stand on its own. I just enjoy a little background and whitty tag line to go with a shot.

Yours is more like documentary art. I wouldn't just call it photography because your presentation is above just documentation. As to how people present, there are some that document and tell stories like you and others that want people to look at images and derive what they can personally from them. IMHO, I think one can do both. As always John, excellent work.

John, mate, this contained some cracking images and some insightful and entertaining text. Thanks so much for sharing....

''you've never lit dandelions?" Man what a classic line. Maybe its resonance with me betrays a little mental misadjustment of my own? Heading off to read the tale of Rattail now.

....the tales of Jason and the respirated historians, felt like scenes from a William S Burroughs book.

Thanks again for the trip man.

Thanks! Truthfully, I don't know what to call what do exactly -- it's just what I do, lol. Your description of "documentary art" is probably as close a description as I've heard for what I try to put together.

I'll tell you, Mark -- it was one of the most interesting trips I've ever made on so many levels. Thank you much!

John, By all means please continue on your path. It is great to see and read!
