Sony Is there a setting for disallowing picture taking when card isn't present?

I'm a bit frustrated.

My other camera had a setting "allow pictures without storage card?" which I had unchecked. That way I couldn't take a picture without the card being inserted in the camera.

Well...I can't find anything like that on the RX1, and I've taken shots several times when nothing was really happening.

I know that the little warning "no card" comes up but I don't always notice it.

Is there a setting that I'm missing to stop this behavior?

You want take pictures without a memory card? Unless the camera also has some built in memory, you cannot take pics. Or is the problem the message is too subtle on the camera?
No..lol...just the opposite!

On my 5D, you could take images and not realize that the card wasn't there, you'd have a small amount of memory but then you'd be screwed. There was an option to turn that off so that it wouldn't let you even push the button so you'd never make that mistake.

On the RX1, you can push the button, take images and it SEEMS like you are taking pictures...until you go to review them then you realize that they don't exist.

I was wondering if there was a setting that would not even allow you to hit the shutter without the card being in.

But yes...the message is too subtle for me. :)

When I first got the Sony RX100 I started to take pictures only to realise sometime later that nothing was happening.
No warning that the card was missing and no internal memory to store limited images.

I think that's the first camera I've had that ignored the missing SD Card ; a Sony feature maybe?

Well...it has a LITTLE warning "no card" on the LCD but to me....it's not enough.

I just went to pick my step son up at work at 2am....grabbed the camera to take a few night shots while I was waiting...it had been raining and so the lights and the water on the ground made for some great reflections.

I spent about 15 minutes taking shots and when I got home, and went to pull the SD card...it was already in the laptop.

Argggg...
