Micro 4/3 First Images of New Panasonic GX7

it looks pretty much like every other camera really.
Why hasn't it got fins?
And a big chrome grille.
And a laser cannon.

now you're onto something Polly. They really need to differentiate themselves from the competition. Bring on the laser cannon. I'm a bit disappointed with only one dial, but I EXPECT every new camera to disappoint me in some way. I expect it will sell in small, but respectable numbers and then be replaced 8-12 months later by something marginally better and this 1000 Euro body to be available for a few hundred.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

But if many of us wanted a rangerfinder-styled micro four-thirds camera with a built-in viewfinder (an NEX7, NEX 6 or X-E1 for micro four thirds, if you will) then at least we know we can have it - either now or later, when prices fall. We haven't had this up to now. It's been all of these optional, external viewfinders or DSLR form factors.

Looks interesting... glad to see the integrated EVF. Panny is a bit late to the game with this feature, given where Fuji and Sony have pushed things with the NEX6/7 and XP1/XE1. Of course Oly and Panny have the OMD and G/GH series, but these are more DSLR-like in experience. I hope the sensor is a good one!

This IS the Panny I have been waiting for since the GF1!!!!! Looking at the spec and providing this is true then I will deff get one. I hope the on sensor stabilization is for real and the same system as the E-M5! Even if it's not it will be better than nothing. With focus peeking and IS I will be able to use my legacy glass with great effect. Oh JOY JOY JOY!!!!!!:dance2::whoo::yahoo:

Tilt EVF = pain in the neck!

Perhaps the first implementation of an integral EVF that still tilts on an ILC; perhaps not quite the second coming.

I don't undertsand what people see in it!

Of course this has been available ever since VF2 for the PEN series - just externally. I have had my tilting EVF (the VF3) on my E-P3 for 2 years and the tilt feature is frankly of no value. You have to crane your neck down to get over the camera when it is angled up - not very comfortable and not good ergonomically for holding the camera. It offers no advantage for macro or low down shooting as you have to have still have your head at the eye piece whereas a tilting LCD is a winner because you can do all the fancy angles without having your head next to the camera. IMHO even a fixed LCD offering a good viewing angle gives more comfortable viewing experience and better camera handling than a tilting EVF.

I think this is one of those things that people think is great until they actually use it.

ive had tilting external vfs for years on my old, now gone, ep2, and my gxr m mount. i,m not sure why folks like to make statements like tilting is of no use at all. while that is undoubtedly true for some, its utility, like most things, is subjective. personally i find it absolutely indispensable for street shooting because it is so discreet. you are not 'aiming' at and staring down your subject. ive gotten terrific candid shots at a 90 degree angle in close quarters that propriety would have prevented me from even attempting without it.

personally im pretty stoked that its now being integrated to the camera body, and hope others will follow suit.
