I feel the need to start this new thread and raise a question : is the LF1, in some respects, better than the µ4/3 Panasonic G1 / GF1 / G3 ? I have found something a little strange with regard to photo sharpness. I have used micro 4/3 since they started in 2008, and with the sensor being bigger than the LF1 (LX5 / LX7 family) the photos should be sharper.
Technology does indeed move on but the old idea of "µ4/3 will always beat a compact" due to sheer physical size seems to be wrong now.
Surprised you do not like it Andy. Just a small point, the sensor is not the same as the LX7, I thought it was at first. After 50 years of playing with cameras (and selling them) the techy stuff is now rather boring. All I want now is to put the LF1 in my pocket and hope for good weather and interesting subjects. No more weight and humping about something that feels like a house brick. Magic !!
What others have said is very true -- the G1/GF1/G3 used a sensor that was already a few years old when it was first used in 2008!
