Samsung NX300 review by Kirk Tuck is up:

The Visual Science Lab / Kirk Tuck: The Samsung NX300. A review.

I must add, I have used a pre-production model of the NX300 and it is easily one of the best compact mirrorless cameras on the market. Samsung took great pains to ensure that all the problems they had with previous NX cameras are rectified. I eagerly await the arrival of the NX30... Although my sources at Samsung indicate that it actually may never arrive. Which is a pity.

Why is this

Samsung has merged their camera division with their cellphone division which is now responsible for development of new NX cameras

This spring I was told that there probably will be no NX30 and instead we will see a "completely new, exciting flagship camera" which turned out to be Galaxy NX. :dash2: Now, I have nothing against the concept of "connected camera," but in case of Galaxy NX the execution is really awkward and fails big time.

Admittedly the Galaxy NX is a new concept that needs working.
Now if I were Samsung, I'd give FREE Galaxy NX and ALL lenses to professional photo journalists & market the heck out of it!

The problem with Samsung is that they are an excellent example of a company with extraordinary engineering and design resources that are in need of a visionary leader -- which they have lacked. They've been accused of a "Sony-me-too" mindset and that seems fair considering how they've designed the cameras.

But it remains a fact that the cameras have been technically excellent while breaking no real new ground or getting their own "voice" or "style" as Fuji has done so well. Now with that bit of information about the cell phone division getting control of the photography stuff -- I don't see that as a plus with Android focus now. I think they may be doomed as a serious camera and it's a darn shame.

Actually,
Samsung beat out NEX to the mirrorless market with their NX10 :) (Thought the NEX 3 & 5 beat out the NX100 by a few months)

Though I won't admit this elsewhere, the GR is making me not hanker the VF so much. Mum's the word on this though as my X100s will feel mighty uncomfortable - she has the best VF in the business you see.

I also felt that my NX 300 needed a viewfinder or rather that I needed a camera that had a viewfinder.
I convinced myself of this so much that I sold my NX 300 and bought a NEX-6.
Although the NEX is a fine camera I am really missing how fun the NX 300 was to use and the great images I took with it.
There is just something about the Samsung that begs to be taken out and shooting images.
Now I am looking into doing the reverse and selling the NEX-6 and going back to the NX 300.
