Thanks for that link. I've got an FZ200 but have never been too happy with it, some food for thought there and perhaps I'd better try again before finally giving up on it.
I have an FZ150, and I think it's great. I've been very tempted by the constant f2.8 for long-range wildlife photography. (And if you search for my posts, you can see a lot of pix taken with the FZ150). I think it is a great camera for the kind of photography that I do, and I have used it professionally, shooting pictures for stories that I have written for publication (for pay!)
Yeah, that's the same basic interface and DOF bar that the LX series uses. And it makes them great for street photography. They also have a step zoom, which makes it very easy to use it like a small bag of prime lenses and you never have to guess what focal length you've zoomed to - I'm not sure if these FZ cams have that or not. But if you stick to the wide end, or near wide end, it should work great for you...

I was tempted by the idea of the long telephoto being useful for obtaining shots of any rarer birds I found, the sort that need descriptions to get the sighting accepted, but I haven't really done much in that line since getting it. I used it briefly for more general photography but always felt it produced noisy images. I started using it for my Silver September posts, but then dropped it for the same reason.
The ideas suggested in the linked video, and indeed others that that gentleman has produced, have given me another push to try and obtain results that I feel acceptable because it's the sort of camera that would be a good walk round type, minimal equipment to carry and the like. I did get good results with a rather bold mouse one day that I probably wouldn't have got with anything else that I was just out wandering about with, so we'll give it another go.
