2013 National Plug In Day at the Trenton Farmers Market, Trenton NJ

I organized the Central NJ celebration of National Plug In Day at the Trenton Farmers Market. We had over a dozen electric cars and lots of curious shoppers coming out to check them out. Here are some photos shot with the Nikon V1:

It was a bright, sunny day with lots of strong shadows and contrast. One of the good things about the V1 is that the files are very malleable in post; I did a lot to pull back the highlights and lift the shadows on these photos.

They are all great but the last two and particularly the last one, definitely tickled my funnybone :) Which lens?

10-30mm kit zoom. These are just grab shots as I was organizing the event. The V1 with the 10-30mm is perfect for this, I set it full auto including focus point and just composed and shot. These photos will never see a drop of ink, so I'm comfortable pushing and pulling the pixels harder than I usually do. Some I pushed a bit too far I think, into faux HDR territory. I may dial them back a touch later.

Nice shots and great event! I recognize the Leaf (easy enough to do), but not the other models. Were you including plug-in hybrids like the Volt, or just full electrics? I didn't know BMW was making either - is that a production model or a prototype or maybe a personal conversion??

John, the next time you do something like this, give us a heads up. Some of us in the region probably would have showed up. ;)

P.S. As I was riding home from the Jersey Shore through Farmingdale, NJ on my BMW R1150R (in avatar above) yesterday, a Tesla Model S pulled out in front of me. Pretty nice.

Plug in hybrids were welcome too. All in all we had 3 Teslas, 4 Volts, a LEAF, a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (shipped to NJ from CA, it actually uses the drivetrain of a Tesla), a Ford Fusion Energi plug in hybrid, and a couple of BMW ActiveEs (they were part of a public long-term test, the results of which helped the upcoming i3 electric car).

Ok, will do. The Tesla is pretty sweet...

Cool! And so close to my former home town Princeton!
I especially love the last one of the biker inspecting the engine!
