Lightroom 3.2 and Camera Raw 6.2 are now available as Release Candidates on Adobe Labs. Lightroom adds direct publish functionality to Facebook, and both releases add new camera support

The new supported compact and mirrorless cameras are:

  • Casio EXILIM EX-FH100 (DNG*)
  • Panasonic DMC-FZ100
  • Panasonic DMC-FZ40 (FZ45)
  • Panasonic DMC-LX5
  • Samsung NX10
  • Samsung TL500 (EX1)
  • Sony Alpha NEX-3
  • Sony Alpha NEX-5

The LX5 is not even available. However, when it will be available, you will be able to download versions of Lightroom and ACR which support it.

Are there any updates besides camera support?

Yes!

It fixes a bug that completely stopped my workflow (originally worked up using LR1, and no problem with LR2): in LR3.0 you can't import pix from one library (say, a temporary/processing library) to another (in this case my final, organized library) if both have files in the same folder.

As an aside, I'd add one more "New" camera fully supported with a lens correction profile: the Canon S90. I haven't tried that one yet, but there's no question that the S90 distorts and gives you CA on the margins when at a more wide-angle setting, so I'm looking forward to that one.

So ya think this will start Beta 4.0?

Lightroom 2 was released in July 2008, Lightroom 3 in June 2010. Beta testing began in autumn of 2009. I assume, that you might have to wait at least a year for Beta 4.

I'm loving 3 but not sure about doing the 3.2 release.....
Hmmmmm.... What ta do...what ta do?

It's just the 3 minus some bugs and plus some additional camera and lens support. So I am sure what to do.

Allright. Allright...I'll do the upgrade tonight because you suggest it, not Momma Adobe.

Better wait until the release is here. This is the release candidate, which means, that it is the potential final release, but if the testers find some bugs, they get fixed before release. If no further bug is found, the release candidate becomes the release. Usually the release follows some days or weeks after the release candidate.

Ahhhh Pictor. I know about that. I was in the 1st Beta.
I'm gonna wait till it's actually released. I'm very happy with 3.0. So far, they really got it down.
If they ever introduce actions in LR, I'd be a very happy shooter instead of just a happy shooter.
Thanks for the heads up.

This is good news....for some but not all. Again Adobe fail to support Adobe Elements users. I think this is the second or third update that by passes Elements users.

That's not true. ACR 6 works with Photoshop Elements 8, but you have to update it manually as described in the official release notes. I have PSE 8 with ACR 6.1 and it works very well. However, the Mac-Version of PSE 8 contains Bridge CS4, whose ACR-Plugin can't be updated by ACR 6 anymore.

Pictor,
Ok, ok....Yeah, that's right. I now have 3.2. Why you ask....
Ok, ok....There is a profile for the new Unreleased LX5.
I will have that camera as fast as I can get it.
It's nice that it's already supported.
Thanks again for the heads up and twisting my arm to do the download.....
I owe you for this and will send a check for $1000.00 USD as soon as I hit the lottery....

I notice that this thread is at the top of the featured threads list, so I thought I'd make one more comment.

I think readers of this forum would also be interested in a few of the new lens corrections:

Lens Mount Lens Name
Canon Canon PowerShot S90 Lens
Sony Sony E 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS (For NEX System)

So as it turns out, the new ACR needs PS5.
I'm still on 4. LR is fine and reads my G2 files.
DNG converter and PS won't.
I'm not sure about updating PS as LR does what I need. I can always take a Tiff or PSD etc into PS.
Hmmmm, thinking.....
