All shots with the A7 and a Ricoh GR.

Chris, I did go and look at all of your photos from this trip - what a place! It's easy to see how parts of The Lord of the Rings could have been filmed at Mt. Ruapeh, though I have no idea if they were. Eerie, a bit scary and haunting in their rugged and wild beauty. That had to be an amazing experience.

wonderful photos, Chris (also the other photos on your website)!
New Zealand is a country I'd love to explore. I have lots of friends working there at the moment, so maybe one day I'll make it too :)

(Even if this years summer doesn't seem to be great... makes nice atmospheric photos!)

I know right! what a place!, As for the Lord Of The Rings that you say, one of the final battles was shot right there. Actually the second photo in the post with the abandoned house?, well just behind that you can see mt doom, you cant see it in the photo because of the thick clouds and fog. but it is really a 10 minute walk from the base camp, epic right? (Im not a fan of LOTR at all so cant be more specific about which exact battle was shot there, but i was told one of the "big epic battles" was shot there) And yes, it seems easy to film any adventure film in nz. as most of their national parks and landscapes seem untouched by man, even-though they carefully are. And of course, when i noticed that we were going to walk above the clouds (literally) I took that as an advantage for my B/W shots. Trying to make the most of what you have!. And like you said it was an amazing experience!

Thanks Tilman!!! appreciate your words.

I had a quick flick through your flickr, and man, i should tell you, if you ever make it to New Zealand, you are simply going to trip with the landscapes you are going to get here. You will not leave the country. hahaha. Great shots!
