Being a bit behind the times, I have just got into long exposure, using fire and light trails. Is anyone else still playing about with this stuff? I would apriciate any advice and tips on getting better results.

Thanks, I saw quite a few amazing steel wool shots on instagram, then youtubed how it was done. It's pretty cheap to get a little set up, although I did get through 3 birdfeeders the othe week. Due to melting.

Whilst im kind of getting the hang of it, I'd really like to get more into the edit side of it. I only run shots through snapseed real quickly. From what I've seen, putting a bit of time and skill, into tweaking this kind of photography, can make stunning pictures.

^ its quite amazing how the guy can/ could visualise in space on a bigger scale than your normal canvas with no reference point

take a look at his camel & dog drawings - all single line (ikea sell them)

Lots of rain here too! Best time to spin outside, is when everthing is still wet, to avoid setting fire to your surroundings. Did you get to go play, HTV? I'd love to see other light trail pictures!

Found a good basement earlier, for my first go indoors..

I have never tried it but saw a Creative Live show with Ben Willmore a year or so ago on the subject. You might want to Google him.

I will check that out, thanks!

Dipso I assume you flipped the image .. extra marks if you wrote it backwards

I never thought of flipping the image, that would have been much easier!

That one was neater than this one..

I like these 2 I took just before Christmas. I was working overnight, in an empty hostpital, so decided to set the shutter speed to 30sec, and spin some lights around reception..
