I live 15 minutes from the National Museum of the US Air Force. In the past 45 years I've been there four times and two of those times were this week.
I'm testing the Merrill cameras and these were with either the DP1M or DP2M. ASA 200 shutter speeds as long as 10 seconds. Opened in SPP, exported as a 16 bit tiff, opened in LR and converted in SEFX Pro.

They look very good to me.
I've found I am not using Lightroom any more. Spp seem to be enough for me. However for monochrome conversion in SPP I dont click the monochrome tab to do the conversion. With the colour image displayed , from the drop down white balance menu select monochrome and adjust as you like.

For me, it seems easier to get the look I'm after. Using the top Monochrome tab always gives me a start point that is too bright.

Thanks! I'll try that. I was a little concerned about the workflow as I'm also a Fuji shooter and usually shoot raw files. My workflow is to save the cameras from the card to a folder on my Mac desktop and then work on the ones that I want to use in SPP. I don't use LR for any cataloging. Just resizing and conversion. I'll try using SPP for black and white. Someone said to just use the blue channel if you were at high asa. That's probably not applicable to me as I won't use this camera at high asa. The Fuji does that very well.

I love the look of all that metal - especially in that first one, which is my favorite. The lighting is wonderful - and that airplane feels really tough and big...however, she retains her beauty. It's easy to see why their pilots were pretty close to being in love with them. Looks to me as though those Merrills did very well in your hands, Paul.

What are your first impressions of your Merrills, Paul?

Fiddler, I'm impressed. I've used alot of cameras and I know that not all of them work well for all applications. I found myself using these with the same mindset that I used with Deardorff and Hasselblad. Slow and easy worked just fine. The write speed is very slow and so is the AF. I use full manual exposure and found it to be very intuitive. There aren't alot of bells and whistles on the cameras and that's fine with me.

I'm dedicated to using the Fuji X cameras for most of the stuff that I shoot but these things really fill a niche for me when I need a higher resolution file.

I was certainly impressed with those first few shots you posted.

I've not had any real chances to try mine out yet, so my shutter finger is very itchy...

I got the new 10-24 lens for the Fuji last last week and had a chance to use it for an hour this morning. My 'normal' lens on the Nikon was the 16-35 zoom so this one is going to work out just fine for me.
