Light House in Noordwijk

Student for life
Just switched to Ipernity for forum photos (so links to zenfolio are gone. sorry). Hopefully this works better for those using a display at 1024px.

I wasn't planning on taking these shots because I brought the Zeiss 135mm with me on a bike ride yesterday evening to shoot some isolated objects and flowers, but the sun/sky combination was just too beautiful. My apologies for posting so many pics but the place is addictive. So I'll be back (I met a guy who shoots there every night!). Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

All shot with Fuji X-T1 and Zeiss 135mm APO Sonnar f2, almost all shots at f2.

Fabulous shots - particularly the first colour & BW

Rare / Unique building - Art Deco lighthouse - does it have a name?

Hi Peter - nice set and good to see - it reminds me of our time when we lived in Holland in the late 1970's early 1980's

OOF is nice but I am not sure it works on the 2nd - IMHO, the OOF area is just too dominant.

I really like the first, (the bird is good) and the last two

you cannot beat a good lens

Still looks cold - the North wind when it blows really makes the difference

Ah. The infamous 70s!
Thanks for the feedback. Does this one work better?

I'd go even further and try, (see what it looks like), it as a 3 x 2 landscape or even try a 1 x 1 crop - the lens is so good that big crops are possible

My apologies for overlooking your question. I had to look it up but here are some facts:
- the history of this place goes back to 1444 when fires were used at that spot as guiding lights for returning fishermen.
- The current tower was built in 1921 based on a design by C. Jelsma (who designed multiple light houses).
- From that time on it was used as guiding light for the increasing traffic at the North Sea.
- The white plaster was added 10 years later.
- It is closed now and opens only on what's called Monument Day.
- The building was restored in 2004
- It is also occasionally used by broadcasting amateurs to communication. The KNRM (Sea Rescue) uses it permanently for communication.
- As far as I know, the building doesn't have a name.
