Maybe as a companion (or a counter) to all the gear chat, tell us what you plan to capture with your camera today. Do you have any photography plans for the weekend?

For me, the dogs just had their breakfast and they are watching me have my morning coffee. They know walkies are just around the corner. So this morning we are planning to drive a half mile to a Botanical garden. The dogs aren't allowed in the Garden proper, but that is actually in the center of a pretty large park, So we'll take a leisurely stroll and I hope to get a few nice shots of the crabapple trees coming into bloom. And possibly we'll be early enough to see a few white-tali deer grazing along the parkway before they bed down for the day.

And feel free to come back to this thread and sure any keepers from your shoot.

Plan?

I've already executed Plan A, which was to go over the common and shoot my newest LF camera. 4 exposures made with that, pointed at the usual suspects. plus a lot of willow fluff shot with my dear old E-P2+17/2.8.

I also tried to get some shots of a Sparrowhawk on her nest but it's a bit too dark unless you're kitted out to shoot like BillN ... I had better luck yesterday with my phone cam pushed up to theeyepiece of my bins :)

Plan B ... there is no Plan B ... we'll see what the weekend brings.

Early start

My day started early such that I was up on Dartmoor just before sunrise (05:29 hours hereabouts). The sky was virtually cloudless so sadly not very interesting.

In the other direction the near full moon (just under the left hand tree branches, remember it's a wide angle lens) sets in the south west as the first rays of sunlight strike the land.

Then the camera kit was put to one side and the real business of the day, plotting potential Northern Wheatear territories, began. If there had been some decent clouds the DP1M would have come with me, but not for pure blue sky. By 09:00 it was really very warm and the wind had dropped to nothing. There was a silence I could hear and feel, I don't think I've experienced that since the 1970's when I used to walk out into the desert in the Middle East whenever I could, fantastic. "A silence where no sound hath been, a silence where no sound maybe".

An increase in Wheatear territories over the last few days of 50% in this area, likewise on my other study site, so a manageable 28 territories are heading to about 50 in number, I'm going to be very busy for the next four to six weeks. Also saw a cracking breeding plumage male Whinchat. Given some more photogenic weather, expect more shots from the moor, between mapping birds that is.

I was all set to photograph a student theater production in which my niece is participating, but just found out it was postponed due to someone in the cast being ill. Will probably continue with my Santurce Market project instead.

I've been sat in between two trees in a portable hide, (a camouflage tent with a seat in it), waiting for the GO bird to come and get a few Mulberries or Cherries …… it flew over once but all I saw were the noisy Jays and the usual Woodpeckers ……. gave up after 3 hours and did my "pool" duties

Rather windy here, but very hot and sunny, shorts on for the first time this year, but we are off to the UK tomorrow evening so I suppose we will be welcomed by a week of rain …….. life's tough

Oh, so it's you going to make the weather change, and I thought it was because my builder is coming back to work here after a week in the south of France :( He should have stayed here and got all the outside stuff done, then gone to France when the weather broke because a certain Englishman is heading our way, stay where you are and take pity on us, leave our weather as it is, don't ruin it for us!

Not sure, just came back from a breathtaking drive through farmland and a winding river valley but didn't take a single photo. Who knows what the rest of the day will bring?

Good thread, Luke - and my thank you to those who've responded... So far, Barrie, you're the day's photographer of record.:D Beware the arrival of Mr. Bill The Weatherman!

My daughter is getting married in 14 months time, yes 14 months, so there's no time to loose!!!! - so we are into the twice daily FaceTime planning sessions plus a F2F meeting every six weeks …… we just cannot put the trip off - not sure what I'm going to do, I'll just try to keep out of the way…..on the nearest bird reserve

One of us could tip off the Border Agency that you're "an illegal", then they might not let you in ...

meanwhile, here's a great big crop of my Sprawk on the nest ... they've built it about 8 feet over one of the three most-used paths onto the common, but don't seem to care much

my intention today (not a plan) is to take another sunset shot through trees, this time with a tripod
got about an hour before I walk

Well, just thinking a bit more about this, he's probably got a passport and so they won't detain him long, so it might be better to tell them he's a cocaine mule and has several hundred grams of marching powder concealed "within" ...

We are sky diving in - a present for my wife's sixty bubble de bubble de bubble birthday ……… so the weather should hold out
