Free Ricoh GV-1 Viewfinder ($229.00 value) with the purchase of Ricoh GR at Adorama

oh man, you guys get all the good stuff for your money...it really gives me some bad jealousy envy sometimes. not good i know, but I cant help not bother to pay up to 30% more (marked as on sale) and not even getting a "thank you" card with my purchase.

anyone who gets this offer is getting an stunning deal!.

Went to Australia a couple years ago. Some day hubby wants to take me to New Zealand, The problem.. I won't want to leave! He didn't. I will take many cameras with though :D And yeah this is a great deal for both GR and the VF.

Nice deal for someone pondering Ricoh GR and wanting the OVF:

Ricoh GR

Also includes a free 32GB SD card.

I've wanted the GR forever but always something else more pressing... sadly the cost of post from Adorama really bumps prices up, to OZ. I dont need the GV-1 and the camera is cheaper ($686AU = $644 US) at the Oz distributor. Its a great deal, though, for those in the US who want this particular package...

I'm sure that there is a difference between the good and the not-so-good, but even the expensive ones still have no visual focus confirmation, no exposure preview, no depth-of-field preview, no information overlays, and parallax error at shorter focusing distances.

I've always wondered the same thing, but I once got an explanation of some leica dude that external OVF are made with the 'same' precision as the lens in front of the camera. which kinda made some sort of sense, yet still i dont know why they are so expensive. and now I even got told that the GH2 which is the small 28mm only OVF for the ricoh is now EVEN MORE expensive than this one.

I own this one and is great, if you like to shoot with a camera to your eye. But yes, it bothers me not having any sort of information about the exposure, the only thing you get is a green light when you using AF that tells you that something 'in the middle' of the frame is in focus.

Adorama is awesome.

I ordered the GR bundle with $100 gcard a few days before the GV1 bundle was available.
I gave them a call and they're switching bundles. No hesitation, no questions, all with a politeness that makes me smile.
So instead of a $100 gc I'm getting a $50 card, memory card, and the GV-1.

Awesome.

I've coveted this camera since it came out, but 28 is a bit wide for how I normally shoot. However, I know there are times when it would be perfect since I've used the 14 on the E-PM2 for many productive shoots. Indecision is saving me money.

Remember, Steve, the GR's 35mm crop mode works fine. Even the 47mm crop mode is surprisingly useful.

I saw that just now in the DPR review (I'm not interested, really) but wondered why you would use it, as opposed to just cropping it in post. This is dangerous territory since I got rid of my EOS M with the 22. Even if the EP5 and the 25/45 are the main camera, it would be easy to just tuck the GR in a pocket or bag instead of taking the 14 as well.

You could certainly crop in post instead, but it's awfully convenient to frame to way you want while actually shooting. And it only takes a beat the change the crop mode - you can assign the function to a button. I love the way the GR can be used entirely with one hand.
