X-ray records (possibly of interest to photographers as well as musicologists)

Very cool story... Ever see one come through your shop?

Nope. Never even HEARD of them before now. I do run into a lot of old home recorded records and one just never knows what's on them. Most of the time it's something recorded off the radio. Occasionally it's a family member playing "Happy Birthday" on the family upright piano. One of my (now deceased) customers had a recording of him playing with Charlie Parker. It was VERY poorly recorded and SUPER scratchy from being played over and over (and these soft homemade discs did not hold up like commercially pressed ones0, but it was very clearly Bird playing with this young hip white kid in Milwaukee who was very clearly more into swing music than Be-bop, but he had also clearly been listening to and trying to digest Diz..

Another great story happened earlier this year. A local musician (who recently learned the art of record hunting {selling garage sale records to Luke or putting them on eBay when they're worth it}) made a very cool find at an estate sale......well worth the read here.......
