My "lounge" (ha!) is the living room in my apartment. Do post pictures of your "lounge" as well.

.... ok, how long did it take you to clean before you took that photo?!

my LOUNGE looks like a tornado came thru it!
actually, im moving into one of the upstairs bedrooms and getting setup, so its EXTRA tornado-y as i have it all piled up in a corner of the living room, lol!

I'm gonna add ours because we just got it redone this summer. We have a long skinny condo and the main floor was cut up in to three only semi-useful rooms until this summer. During July, we had the place totally opened up with an entirely different layout and essentially new kitchen (except we kept most of the appliances we had). We used to come down here to use the kitchen and only occasionally the separate dining room and living room. Most of our time was spent upstairs in our bedroom or offices. Now that it's all once space we basically live down here most of our waking hours. Between the kitchen island (which is a main hangout), the dining room (where we eat some of our meals and use the table as workspace), and the living room (which is where we relax - and it easily expands out into the dining room when we need more space), this IS our lounge. It's not ONLY a lounge, but it's our primary living space and much lounging happens here...

Nice move. I've been doing some searching for properties recently and the once popular idea to maintain the kitchen, dining and living as separate spaces is a big turn-off for me.

I spy an Eames lounge chair and a definite mid-century aesthetic. Nice!

Thanks John. I'm a sucker for anything Milo Baughman. It's actually a tiny little apartment that I moved into after a particularly troubling period in my life. The pictures were taken by a photographer friend for a post on apartmenttherapy.com

I'll be moving out soon, though I'll miss the space. A bit more details about the apartment here (House Tour: Rajiv’s Bangalore Wabi Sabi)

This is the fourth home we've owned and the second longest tenure so far, but it'll almost surely end up being the place we live the longest. ALL of our places had separate kitchens and living and dining rooms, but this is the first one that just absolutely did NOT work. The others at least had some flow to them and some communication between the rooms, but this one had the kitchen completely closed off and the dining room only had half walls that served no purpose but to limit how you could use the very limited space. We knew pretty much as soon as we bought the place that we'd want to open up the kitchen to the dining room, at least with a pass-through, or a breakfast bar on a half wall or something. But we didn't really have a good idea of how to do it until a neighbor (with essentially the same unit) did a renovation very much like this one. As soon as we saw it, we knew that was how we wanted to do ours. The details are all different (colors, materials, larger island, location of particular cabinets/drawers and some appliances), but we essentially just copied what they did in opening it up. And, man, it functions SOOOOO much better than any place we've owned before. I wish we'd had a space like this when our kids lived at home. It's great when it's just the two of us here, but we've had people over for dinner a couple of times and it's just overwhelmingly better with people around. We're enjoying the hell out of it already and I suspect will continue to over time. It was an expensive job, but it was almost surely a once in a lifetime type of thing and it was definitely worth it.
