If money was no object?

What gear would you use if you could pick between anything at all?
Of course you'd still have to carry it around and so on, so picking the biggest camera around might not be optimal for your needs and wants, but if you take out the financial part what would be your dream setup?

I'd have what I have now (Nikon Df, some lenses, RX1, and Coolpix A) plus a full complement of Leica gear and a few more select Zeiss lenses for my Df...

And of course if money was no object I'd have flats in Paris and Positano and Hong Kong and Rio and New York or I'd just be travelling all the time. And maybe I'd hire a Sherpa to haul my gear... The key point is I'd be shooting ALL the time and would never get bored with shooting the same old stuff... :D

Digital full-frame Leica (color) with really fast medium wide lens.

Weirdly, I don't know if it would fit my style of photography, but maybe I would adapt.

Cheers, Jock

I'd buy Ricoh and commence designing the long awaited Pentax Full Frame camera. They already have a number of great lenses to cover a full frame sensor.

Short of that, I'd probably buy a dozen PENTAX K-3s (limited silver ...... natch) and a nice assortment of their best lenses and just keep them permanently attached (When money is no object, why deal with the hassle of changing lenses).

Big ocean going Yacht with crew of course …….. travel most of the year

Oh camerawise ……. latest Nikon or Canon 800mm …… but not really as I've got most of the gear I need ……. so it would be a 4 week "safari" style holiday twice or three times a year

OK, if we're playing THAT game, I'm buying Sony and having them make three more RX1-like models - at 21, 28, and 85-90mm. And get 'em to improve their auto-ISO setup to match Nikon and Samsung and Fuji. And then I'd own one of each, could carry all of 'em in an Ona Bowery, and I'd never EVER buy another camera. For a while...

The three traits I value most in a camera are versatility, portability, and technology, and combinations of all three become increasingly rare as you head north of $1000. Instead, just give me a few lenses that I wouldn't otherwise buy because I'd only have limited use for them, and I'm good.

I would get the Leica full frame color and B&W with a full complement of lenses.
Plus, I would keep the Nikon Df and get some of their high end professional lenses.

It is all going to happen as soon a I win the lotto. (might have to actually buy a lotto ticket first...)

Money really isn't a object for me, I can pretty much get any camera I desire. Because I can doesn't mean I will because I see some of the high dollar cameras unnecessary for me. If you had to hold me to one, I would settle on my Sony A7S and Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 prime...... And I never thought something would beat out my Rx1.

I'd be interested in commissioning a bespoke design - provided I could take an active part in it

while I waited I'd probably give some Sigmas a try out - coupled with a few lessons

There's not currently any camera on the market that does everything I want at a size I can live with. I think the closest would be an EM1 with 12/2, or in a few weeks' / months' time, an XT-1 with the upcoming 16/1.4. I'd like the lens to be weathersealed though, and ideally the camera would be smaller; roughly Panasonic LX-size. A weathersealed digital X-Pan would be fantastic.

For a long zoom range camera, the Olympus Stylus 1 would be great if it were weathersealed.

Interested in your point here Lucille. I'm tempted to get an A7s but I am also very tempted to get a RX1r now that the prices have dropped a lot. I had the RX1 and I foolishly sold it when I got my A7 thinking I'd be better with a FE35/2.8. This has proved to be a spectacularly mediocre lens. Can't afford to get an A7s and a RX1r and have not made up my mind but I would like a really good 35mm again and the lens on the RX1 was a real gem, imho.

If money was no object I'd get a 50mpx back and go back to using a Hasselblad V system - and I'd also buy a SWC (again) and adapt it to use a digital back. The Distagon 50mm, for example, is such a freakin' spectacular lens and the SWC is sublime but I am afraid I am done with film and the digital backs for Hasselblads are ridiculously priced.
